Digital Marketing Confusion?
Do you have a marketing strategy?
Who is your audience and what social media do they use?
Got a vlog?
Got a blog?
Do you insta?
Do you get the hits vs effort?
HOW DO YOU KNOW???
Understanding who your target market is—business-to-business? Business-to-customer? Is super important BEFORE you start throwing time and money at a marketing strategy.
Digital marketing can be a ‘cheap’ and very effective marketing tool—if done right!
Here are my top tips, whatever platform you use!
Be consistent—you have a brand, and you need to stick to that. Don’t post about the sporting results on your business page if you install security alarms (unless your business is associated to sport). Make some templates to make it easier!
Be regular—don’t be the silent ninja of posts. Be regular, no matter if you have something to say, or just reposting your logo to remind people you are there. Set a calendar reminder
Know when to post—what is the best time of the week? When do you receive most of your enquiries? You could be a gardener and post more as we move into autumn to remind people to do the garden clear-up. Don’t post on a Friday night, you will get lost in everyone's social posts
Share testimonials/ happy clients—Do a video with them, or type a few words up, this counts to support your business. Start a Google My Business profile
Don’t be afraid—As Nike says ‘Just do it’. Start, and you will improve with time. Don’t try to be perfect 1st time, but try to avoid spelling mistakes
Starting a new business is hard, you need to understand the logistics, and then there is the advice—every family member and friend has an opinion!
I left an overseas global senior manager role in an international company in July 2020, to move country and start Idunn. We packed up our lives, and got on the ferry. Arriving in Dublin, we had to do 2 weeks quarantine with the children….. Lockdown again! Now that we have settled and children in school, I can focus on setting up Idunn! EXCITING!
What if it fails? What will others think? Am I doing this right—so much advice from everyone?! Will people want to work with me? Keeping me up at night, the safety blanket of being employed is gone—I'm on my own now, and I'm gonna surf that wave! :)
I believe in helping people to succeed. People are amazing, and I don’t claim to have all the answers, but I am a good listener, organized and always question the status quo. I know how to run a business in tough times, I’ve had to run redundancy plans for my staff and I know what its like for your clients to back out of contracts! I am very familiar with that dark place, but I always pick myself back up and see the opportunity to transform and take advantage of every situation—you can too!
This knowledge is what I want to share with all the small-medium sized businesses and startups to help you succeed. With approx. 3,000 new businesses started each month in Ireland* its such a great environment to get support and to succeed….
